Default Alfa Romeo 156 2002 odo corr.

    Hi all,

My odometer wasn't working correctly, the infocenter sayd I was doing 1:50 (liter / km's) fuel consumption.
I've replaced the defective odometer for a second-hand one, but the milage doesn't match with the old one.

I'm a total noob, have used the search but can't find any info on the 2002 (facelift) model.
How can I correct the milage and what tools/software do I need?

    Thanks you in advance!

I've now learned the pinout to solder the wires to.
I also see this is done before on my odometer...

that explains the fault, the odometer gives miles to the infocenter while the infocenter itself is set to km's.

Is there a way to change this?
To re-program a good, european (km) dump?

Now I only need the hardware and software (UPA??)

thanks, this are different pinouts then i've seen and that are allready soldered on my odometer.

Can you give me more information on the hard- and software? What do I need and how to use it?
It's a one time job on my own speedometer so I'd like it cheap but still do it myself (I can always sell the hardware afterwards)

the cheapest hc11 programmer I can find is 100 euro's excl. shipping.
    Isn't there a clone available?

    thanks again!

Motocracker is probably by far the cheapest solition if you only going to use it once. If you have basic soldering skills you can make the interface yourself for a couple of euros.

Thanks smokey, will search on that!

@Tulgeywoodman, I want to try it myself, just because I can and I find it interesting

Come on, I own an Alfa Romeo, I HAVE to tinker myself hehe

but paying someone is way more expensive then I thought, people ask arround 80 - 100 euro's here in the Netherlands..

Do you have any more hints / tips like software or maybe a schematic for this "Motocracker"?

EDIT: Schematic isn't hard to find, parts are..
The only shop I know of here is conrad.nl and they are WAY more expensive then shops in the US.
They easily ask 20 euro's for something that costs maybe 2.

assuming your time is not measured in euros,I would still be surprised if you could do it for less than 80 euros.

then, there is the chance of you breaking it

ask drpeter if he will do it for you.

I know I can break stuff, that's why I have 3 speedometers to try it on before actually try it on mine all broken though, same problem as mine, got them for free so no harm done.

you need the actual speedometer to perform the correction, that means I have to ship it to where ever drpeter is to correct it, not really an option :P

my time is not counted in euro's and again: I enjoy these kind of things, do lack the experience / knowledge though..

    If the motocracker is cheap (several euro's = ?10 - 20??) then it's fun.

If I have to pay 70 euro's for a piece of hardware that I need to assemble myself OR can buy a working one for 80, then the last choice is preverable
