Default Prolific USB to Serial driver

    Hi

This is pretty obscure but it might help others.

I have a Garmin Etrex H handheld GPS device that I use for geocaching. It's quite old but is a good model. It connects via serial cable but many people have USB to serial cable. Most people would have this on XP and if you do a search online you will find many many posts stating that they can't get GPS unit (or other devices that use Prolific ) working on win 7. There does seem to be a link on website of Prolific for win 7 drivers but many people state they don't work and nearly all say they don't work for 64bit. Prolific state it's because of cheap Chinese tat connector cables but I don't think so. My cable has worked in the past but not now.

I have trawled internet for hours over the past 2 days and eventually came up with a solution.

Uninstall Prolific USB to serial using windows uninstall, then just unzip file here. By the time I found this I was ready to give up and buy a new GPs unit.

It works for me on WIn 7 64 bit Ultimate.
