I have tryed this solution and all I got now is "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNISED" when plug CDP to USB port!
Tested on SW, but "NO VCI" error is diplayed!

Anyone can help to solve this, becouse interface is now dead???

When "readserial" command was sent nothing showed!
Only I heard was the sound that windows disconected device (like pulling out the USB).
Now tryed on 3 PC, win7 and XP but always "DEVICE NON RECOGNISED" i think something gone in FTDI now...

All the settings on speed and port was OK, double checked!

Maybe I wasn't lucky... but now need some solution to bring CDP alive again!

Till now I programmed serial by programming attiny... this is big shotcut if works ok!

Why I read somewhere in the other thread that voltage that capatitors can handle in Cars CDP clones are lower than 24V ?

... so at least that should be checked before try tu user car CDP on trucks.

I tested two clones, CARS and TRUCKS
the difference is only in the color of the OBDII

There are some more different interfaces on the market. They are with yellow, blue or red obd connector, but more important is the pcb inside.
There are different relays, different capacitors (voltage), pcb with/without oki chip, wrong k-line resistors (390k should be) and maybe more...
Sometimes they have problems with ford or bmw, truck connectors are wrong wired, volvo trucks don't work, firmware update 2011-3 doesn't work...
It's a little bit lottery what you get.

Can you have cars and trucks installed on same HD ? Then just run one the utilities at the beginning if this thread to change serial then that allows you to run either program?
