I tried to use Skin Studio before and couldn't get the hang of it.

If you copy the .esml file from the skin on the box to your PC, you can edit it and make the changes you want. Then ftp it to /var/tuxbox/config/skins along with the pictures folder, info file and any fonts that is needed to the relevant folders in /var/tuxbox/config/pictures and /var/tuxbox/config/fonts. Make sure all folder paths are correct within the .esml and .info files to point to the files in /var.

After making changes, restart enigma to take effect. Make sure all pictures and fonts are there because you'll hang the box if they're not and you'll need to reflash with dreamup.

But the Skin Studio can load only xxx.info I am not able edit the original skin. It keeps saying 'There was a problem reading the esml file!>Object reference not set to an instance of an object' Do you have idea what is going on?

    Thanks

I used UltraEdit to edit the .esml file, I couldn't get Skin Studio to work.

I agree with DF, I got no-where with Skin Studio, you are better off with a text editor (I use notepad++). It doesn't take long getting your head around the emsl file and graphics to get good results!

If by chance you want to play with dbox skins, I got lcdepg working for enigma (now AND next) and is supported by the skins! My diff got commited into tuxbox last week so a new checkout and just a couple of lines need adding to the emsl to get it working!

if i just want to change colours on a particular skin do i just edit the .esml file or do i have to edit the actual pictures file in the pictures folder, and are all colours supported on every skin or do i have to add colours to it for them to work

    Hi guys,
Am also looking to play around with esml files. It is xml but is there a description on which is which properties to modify?

For example, I would like to mod two properties

    1) Perhaps the selected text bar color, etc

    2) When you press OK button (twice OK in PLI) to bring up the service / channel selector -> I would like to reduce the number of channels selected and expand the bottom bits which tell you the description or info of the show/currently playing on the channel complete with the category of show/movie/sports?? and also the satelitte position?

I have seen esml files but don't know which line or properties to edit??
