As the chip has been removed, follow the manual diagram 2.1.7. MC68HC(7)05H12. Try to conect all wires manually. AND a xtal of about 4MHz to pin 1 and 52 together with a resistor of about 5-10 Mohm to the same pins. Notice that Xprog is presetting the clock as 4.19 Mhz for this chip if you use 4Mhz reset it to 4MHz too.

No. remove the adapter off Xprog and connect all wires directly and only to Xprog 16-pin terminal.

I wonder why the counters initial value is D0h? Did that just happen to be the value when the chip was originally cracked/read? I wonder what will happen if the counter is set to FFh before programming the MCU. Using the tut from this thread has made my clone a lot better. To be fair the only trouble I have had since updating is a verify error on the flash in a 908AZ60 from a Renault parking brake module. Its no real hassle to reprogram the MCU from time to time anyway if the counter situation does cause verify errors.
    V Series TMS470 / EEPROM data - encryption / decryption, totally pwned.

    Hello All,

When i read securised 9S12XDP512 from CAS3 i have verify error.
but with eeprom, TMS... haven't verify error.
It's XProg M V4.5 (first version from china with metal box).

When i read a 908 with xprog m and compare with dump from ETL i have not the same dump.
I have many error in xprog M dump.

    Maybe it's hardware problem?

Hi guys i think i bricked my xprog 4.5 as i plugged it in by mistake whilst the 5.3 software and dongle was loaded. Now i get error when choosing the usb port 'incorrect device range'. Anyone had this issue? Is it recoverable? Thanks

Managed to sort it out, just run the software set up again, clicked on repair software and all working well again.
