In my case I had the handbrake fault/esp etc lights on. The engine was cutting out randomly as I was driving. I could only start the car when the errors showed up. Found problems with the wiring loom that is pushing off the battery box (bad design) toward the rear right as you look into engine - lots of corroded and broken cables that needed to be repaired. Whilst under the hood I disconnected the egr valve sensor (just behind the fuel filter) - it was held on with a small cable tie. There I found water in the connector. Left it disconnected and all is well (except for the pollution warning that I can live with until i get around to replacing sensor for m.o.t...) Hope this helps someone..
Can i have password please
I just looked on a inferior site and found "if h/brake is giving fault, check EGR first". It may sound strange, but this guy knows his stuff so might be worth a try. good luck.
Like autoden said above I can confirm that a faulty Egr valve can cause this problem....I have learned the hard way on a 407 1.6 hdi with same fault code...
I Unplugged egr valve connector from the fitted egr valve and connected in a new egr valve (without fitting) and clear faults......If the fault(s) Inc abs faults clear then your good to go fitting the new egr valve...
If you can get your hands on a new (or good secondhand egr valve) then its worth a try..

Its always Nice to say Thanks...:-)
Hello. I already got a car of this kind of damage and the brake works fine. This may sound silly what was causing this breakdown was the EGR. After changing the EGR fault disappeared. I hope this helps you.
