    what box you got ?
what image are you trying to flash to it ?
what extension is the image filename i.e. is it something like DK1.0.img or DK1.0.fwz ?

might be your using the wrong software or not leaving the flash programme long enough.

The problem is not dreamup not working i'd the same problem before and it took me some time to flash my box. the problem is the type of computer your using the com ports are disabled which was the case with my pc and i didnt have enough knowledge on how to enable them, i tried several pcs but they all didnt help me as the com ports were all disabled untill when i used my old pc with com ports not disabled. Most the of the pcs these days come disabled you need to find some one with good pc skill to enable your com ports and use a latest version of dreamup.
Every thing should work out properly once you follow the instructions thanks.
hi , do you have the info to enable the ports ? or where can i get it? got the same problem at the mo. thanks.

There's not much else to say other than what's in the guide.

    Turn the box off
Connect the null modem cable to the dreambox and com1 on your PC
    Run Dreamup
    Click connect
    Turn on Dreambox

The progress bar will start to move on dreamup and it will upload the bootloader to the dreambox.

If nothing happens when you power on the box, you've either got a problem with the box or you are not using a null modem cable. A serial cable and an rs232 cable look the same but they are not a null modem cable.

you could download "network magic" it will tell you whats what..I did and then uninstalled it. Im not sure what it puts or leaves on your pc. Upto now no comebacks,,but it seems a powerful tool.It gives you a plan and adress of modem ,,boxes,,ips etc.

Are you using an onboard com port or a usb-null modem cable?

Go into Device Manager and make sure it's set to COM1.

    Excellent guide thanks.

I had to make up my own cable, sod waiting for delivery, and it all went well. Maybe the pin outs for null modem cables should be stickied somewhere. I can't be the only one thats willing to make my own.

    Thanks again for the guide.

Default Flashing a dreambox with dreamup

Those Instructions were really clear but what i dont understand is do i erase the box first?

I've brought a brand new dreambox 500c, do i erase whatever that is on there first before i flash the box with a new image?

    cheers

    Jason
