Hi,
you need to look at the cause of the problem. Most are can bus data error so reprograming column sorts out the fault.
The data errors often occur through the battery not upto spec. It will still start the car but if you monitored the current it falls too low for a split second causing the data in the eprom to corrupt. I always fit a new battery when I do this job. I have also had one customer come back with the fault again after replacing the battery, in this case the alternator was duff. Changed alternator - not seen him again.

This corruption of data causes D037 def1 and def2 (prob others) faults to b recorded which as we know can not be cleared because "replace column" message is also logged (bit like airbag)
But... there are times when the motor or the computor IS faulty. So clearing the dump doesn't solve the problem.
