Like they say, as far as I concern vcds can't make it to even key matching, if it is 4th generation you might taking pin and cs from CCM as they say, either from hardware with a programmer or with avdi, vvdi or even fvdi, if it is 5th generation you can't do anithing with vcds I've been there, unless ross-tech already update software

You can get pin from engine ecu.

it is immo4 in you car
you need pin and cs
if you dont have tools dont play locksmith

With good tools you can do it from OBD or just clone chip and match remote with OBD

1) get the comfort module out of a Passat 2006 3C (I understand it is behind the glove box)
2) advice on reading the eeprom (I understand I need a common eeprom programmer, but is in-circuit with test clip possible, or does the eeprom need to be de-soldered out ?!)

I aim to get the eeprom dump to upload here in order to get Pin and CS, VCDS offers procedure to match key with one orig key on hand

I am in a bind, dealership is cost prohibitive, locksmith service even worse price gouging. I got IT background, handy with a solder iron, just not having the car experience.

Dude! This is the eprom you need to read, CCM is under right A pillar, you have to slice a lock to remove plug, unclip CCM's cap and fold four clips that holds front plastic cap.
