    Thank you for the instructions.

However; finding a pc or a notebook with a serial port is very hard to find these days and with almost all "usb 2 serial" cables not functioning well, i hope an alternative solution can be found sometime soon.

My only solution, until now, is a 15 year old notebook which I hope it doesn't totally break down until another solution is out.

Yeah I know.... I use a USB to RS232 adaptor from DealExtreme: Cool Gadgets at the Right Price - Site-Wide Free Shipping (Page 1) and it works 100%

Then you get a normal Null modem cable connected to the adaptor, and everything works.

I have tried to use a direct USB to serial cable with little luck...

    Default dreambox 600 pvr

Its sticking on loading enigma likely due to me deleting some thing I shouldnt. Is there a reboot/ recovery ?
Its a year or so since I first flashed the box and setup.
The dreamup guide look good but is it the complete set up that I need to where the dreambox manual take over the instrution.
Ill give it ago after down loading dreamup.

As long as you have a bootloader that works, dreamup should do everything right....even if you miss anything on your DB and uses a image that is complete.... (when you are flashing a DB you are rewriting everything in flash)

    Have you tried different images?

When you have flashed the box with a image that is good, restart the box and everything should work.

(it should boot properly, but you might see the boot image on the screen as you dont have any channels but when you click fex menu, you should get the menu)

    Default Dreambox 500 clone

    Hi everyone.
This site looks like it has all the info I am going to need...
    Great!

I am just about to flash my db500 with the latest gemini image.
As I've read the gemini is the most powerful one...
Will this enable my db to sync to more sat channels?
What other advantages do we get from flashing another image?

Sorry about the questions... I am a true newbie!
