At the end of the day the fibre from the exchange to your nearest cabinet will be the same piece of fibre, with the same bandwidth capabilities, no matter who you use or pay.

So your choice really comes down to which ISP provides the better service and the services that you want, e.g. unlimited downloads and so on. All of them have a bad rep in one way or another. At that point you're just one of the many thousands of customers they have and they will treat you no differently. Unless you want to pay more to have an SLA in place with them with fixed resolution and repair times, in which case dig deep and be prepared to pay.

Yeah wish I could get BT, or Vermin, or any cking ISP but the one I have. Sometime I'll have to seriously consider selling the house and moving to another town/city or even country where I'm allowed a choice

Ah you'd think such a city would have plenty of 4G and fast 3G by now wouldn't you? The trick to any area having fast 3G/4G telecoms is that the telephone providers have fibre to their masts, not here they don't. You can get a 3G or 4G signal if you wish, but you won't get that accessing the internet because o2/voda/3/ee don't have fibre either. Instead they have to have microwave drums lined up across from Grimsby and use them. Let that be a lesson, never move to Dull.
