    Keys in photos are bga, impossible reprogram for now.

    At the moment, there are much better tools out there than AVDI for Mercedes.

    Farksake, they can't even renew used keys reliably.
    I did 10 today and 2 of them did not have any remote signal when they got renewed.
    That's $200usd down the drain.
    This is using revision 3 PCB adapter.

    There is no IR Reading/writing device available for AVDI and the update that was supposed to happen 3 months ago, never happened.


    AVDI and Mercedes = FAIL

    When i looked into doing Merc keys last year i came to the conclusion that the mb key prog was the best tool for the job. If you're on a budget then there are alternative routes such as the ak500 but that tool has mixed reviews.

    ok bit the bullet today guys and bought MN022 and MN024
    along with zif socket and abprog

    post up your results using these guys

    or is every one having problems with the ABPROG NEC combo ?

    and its pretty good

    I've been seeking some answers for Merc keys for a while now, So you read EIS (ROSFAR etc), Calculate dump (Loads of different online services/tools). Read key, Add key dump. Write to EIS (ROSFAR) = Job done right?

    So can someone with a MG KEY prog or someone in the know explain whats the point of mb-key... I do want to get into Merc keys, I do want to buy a mbkeyprog just want to understand the advantages.

    Nooo, you don't write anything back on EIS. That was before SKC was invented that you had to modify EIS, ESL/ESM, ECU.

    With rosfar you read the motorola mcu's, use SKC to calculate the keys, "write" the file in a nec or motorola key and it's done.
    Working on something to release next month for free for all dk users :>

    Yes, and if you have a good programmer for nec key chip the remote will also work

    do the remotes work with AVDI guys ?
    if they do all good
    but if they dont how do we get the remotes working again ?
    is there a manual way to pair the remote to the car ?

    aslo what about generation 4 remotes
    can avdi do anything with tese style remotes ?
    as i have a few here with the BGA chips in there

    like erase and reuse them ?

    Nothing can erase BGA keys at the moment and seeing that AVDI does not have any IR reader/writer as I have already said there is no chance of reading them.
    From my last batch of keys I renewed, 2 out of 10 killed the remote bytes with no chance of reviving them with AVDI.

    All of your questions have been answered in this thread already, take your time to re-read it!

    One last time, AVDI + Mercedes = FAIL in its current form.

    The supplier can't fix this problem.
    Abritus need to release the long overdue Mercedes update to fix this, they are a long way behind the rest of the competition now and the longer they wait, the more people will find an alternative.

    I was one of the people who actually bought the Mercedes update when it was prematurely released a few months back.
    It came with the new V4 NEC adapter and IR key to read the EIS data.

    I can tell you that the adapter and IR key work, there has not been any issues so far.


    The main problems are

    1. NEC adapter damaging IR bytes when renewing key - Other tools have an option to repair the damage if it occures.
    2. There is no IR reader/writer available - If you want to check what the ROM version of the key is, you have to open the key up and inspect the PCB.
    - If you want to write a dump to a blank key, you have to remove the NEC, solder it to the adapter, write it and then solder it back to the key.

    These are basic functions that you would expect the tool to be more than capable of.

    I'm not even going to start talking about more advanced options that other tools have like reading full dumps through the EIS, renewing EIS modules, renewing ESL modules and so on.

    When it first came out, it was the ducks nuts, one of the best tools out there for Mercedes, now its a shadow of it's former self, which is a shame.
