nothing on the pre 2015 built models and some late 2014 models .

at the end of 2014 vag introduced 3 new locks to their range all 3 locks differ and none are the old HU66 , all center around the HU162 keyway.

    1) the 8 cut version of the hu162 bladed lock was the first to be released on some non proximity key models , initially some golf , ibiza , fabia and polo had this lock fited , this version has 8 straight cuts on an hu162 profile and is a simple pick with the new 8 cut tool.

    2) the 9 cut version was released at the begining of 2015 , this uses the same hu162 blade and profile as the 8 cut , except instead of having 8 conventional cuts as the 8 cut tool , it has just 6 conventional cuts in positions 4 to 9 and 3 side cuts in positions 1 to 3 , 2 cuts will be on 1 profile and 1 cut on the opposite profile , then the 6 conventional cuts , this one ive seen on a 64 plate golf and the golf plus models thus far but has been seen across the non proximity range

    3) the 10 cut vag was released 2015 on models using smart proximity keys on models such as passat , audi tt , A4 , Q5 Q7 etc , this one uses the same hu162 blade but on a reversed profile to the previous 2 new locks , this one also has just 6 conventional cuts in positions 5 to 10 and has 4 side cuts in positions 1 to 4 , 2 on one profile and 2 on the opposite profile .

both the 9 and 10 cut are a more complex lock to pick , but still straight forward with the 2 new tools , you just feel and pick slightly differently , the new tools work well once you get your head around the feel differences and the side cuts .

so 3 new locks have replaced HU66 on models from late 2014 . 8 cut , 9cut and reverse profile 10 cut tools.

but to add some confusion , you will see hu66 on some of this year too , ive done 2015 golf models with 8 cut , 9 cut and hu66 , so as with any cross over year expect to see any of them . and just to add a touch more confusion theres no specific list of which car started using which on the bladed key models .
to confuse things further on the proximity models , audi decided on the A4 they would recess the lock deeper into the handle , so the 1st 10 cut tool released would not get full insertion on these , so both tool manufacturers had to release a version 2 tool for the 10 cut vag tool amended to overcome the recessed lock on the new a4 models.

the short answer to your question is that everything has changed , lock , key and tools , but not on all mk7 golf , some up to 2015 still used hu66.

    1 2 3 side cuts
    4 5 6 7 8 9 groove

    Vag2015 single lever
    12345678 cuts

    Vag2015 twin levers
    12345678 cuts

ive seen HU66 , HU162 vag 2015 8 cut and HU162 vag 2015 9 cut on golf models from late 2014/2015 , but ive also seen an hu66 on a 2016 golf , golf plus models ive had plenty on the new 9 cut thus far .

audi a1 ive done 2016 models still on hu66 , and had a late 2016 A4 on an HU66 profile but have also had a4 on 2015 model using the new recessed 10 cut .

cross over years will always throw up confusion and all will get seen , but these locks are now out there in abundance and being seen daily .

the vag 2015 8 cut , both single and twin lift do same job and have same coverage , its down to personal preference which you use .

the vag 10 cut if you have the gen 1 lock you wont pick open the new recessed locks on the late A4 models using this lock , but you will get the passat , Q range and tt models using this lock , the gen 2 tool does both versions of the lock including the new a4

i just like picking and playing with locks , im lucky that i see alot of new vag locks with my contract jobs so get plenty of time with these .

ive been to alot of late model vag always excited to battle the new locks , often dissapointed to find hu66 on some , from 2015 on its a lottery sometimes on which of them you will see

    About the new golf plus.
The door lock is a 3+6
I can open and read these, but not the ignition.
Is there a lishi suited for this, like the 8 cut lishi.
So far, i have not seen the side cuts being in the ignition lock.
    Only the groove part.

the ignition locks have no side cuts , these are a straight 9 cut similar to the 8 cut tool , thus the key also has conventional cuts on the key in the 1st 3 positions , the side cuts have a relationship to conventional cuts on the 9 cut lock , a number 1 cut on the side cut will have a number 4 conventional cut in that position , a number 4 side cut will have a number 1 conventional cut in that position , side and conventional cut will always be the opposite cut to each other .

no tool has been made for the ignition as yet , as entry was the 1st priority when the tool was released especially as no one could cut or code these at the time of release.

once there is a demand for an ignition tool for these then im sure one will be developed , but i doubt this will be until such a time as the vehicles are old enough to have suffered partial lock changes and until such time as locksmiths can cut and program the keys , until then demand for such a tool would be too low for the manufacturers to get payback on their development.

i see no reason why the current 8 cut tool couldnt be adapted to work on these 9 cut ignitions , as would just take an extra space adding as rest is same , im sure this could also be adapted diy , i will have a play with 8 cut tool on an ignition , as im sure i could pick it with the 8 cut tool in the same way ive been picking the 7 cut va2 lock on new daf vehicles , il have a play and see .

Hi VAG2015 Lishi pick thread !!

I did a quick search on here and found this post before I started a fresh thread.

I'm trying to make sure I have coverage for VAG, currently I have x3 tools
Mr Li HU66 Generation 1&2 single lifter
Genuine Lishi HU66 v.2 twin lifter
Genuine Lishi VAG2015 8 cut single lifter ( night vision )

I'm somewhat confused TL list a VAG2015 9 cut and a VAG2015 v.2 10 cut. Does their VAG2015 v.2 10 cut cover everything their VAG2015 9 cut does plus overcome the issue of recessed locks ? or do I need both tools for overall coverage.

Aldridge list Li tools that appear to be marked up differently to the Li tools on 3D .......Help .......What do I need for coverage ??

And out of the available tools are there pro and cons between Genuine Lishi and Mr Li on these later VAG picks ?

    Default Vag 2015 Lishi pick

Tried and failed to unlock 2018 Porsche Cayenne. The only pick that would insert into the keyway was the 10cut hu162. I had to modify the edge to fit the pick in under the door handle. But when I tried to feel the wafers I could only feel wafers in positions 10-9-8-7.

I assume my tool wasn’t inserting all the way and this lock requires the v2 tool. I’m looking online to purchase this tool, is there any easy way to spot the difference between v1 & v2?

    Thanks

In this photo the lishi did go in further than it shows also.

After looking online, it looks like the gen2 is the pick without the built-in tension lever.
