Try to measure voltage on eeprom pins. If you tried for long time maybe power rail for 5V is damaged.
    Worst case FEM MCU damaged.

This problem is for long on VVDI2 and not fixed.....
Don't waste more transponders on VVDI with this old Mercedes Modules...

exactly use this method, it doesn't matter which device you used, when the proper PIN short circuit on cluster means you have working, then access to OBD device to communicate.
but when you remove the cluster maybe ABS lost coding.
So only need to join that point to GND anywhere and then power up cluster and it should read info as though in service mode?

Not worried about loosing ABS coding as more important is getting the car to drive again after client lost all keys....

This is what I am asking my self all this time, What is the purpose doing it OBD , if you have to take CAS and read eeprom /flash back up ?
If you do that you can do key with key tag tool.

And not just VVDI , all other tools are same way. So waste money for authorization like this , in other end you can do it with key tag tool.

Pin 5 of eeprom 24c32/64 needs to be connect to ground. Every dash is different.

However I tried this with VVDI and did not work on one dash , I never try after that.

I have done quite a few of the CAS3+ downgrade on the car and then do the start cycle method WITHOUT EEPROM BACKUP. Never had a problem as long as power source of car and laptop were strong. It's always safer to have a backup, but not A MUST.

    Hi there folks....

Got a cluster of a VW AMAROK. Seems like somebody worked on it and left it in service mode. CLuster comes on but is in service mode. I can read / write eeprom and immo data without a key. When I read eeprom the Address 1430 = FFFFFF (for those who know what service mode address is).
How can I get this cluster out of service mode since I don't have the original file. I tried contacting the person who apparently worked on it and he is not sending em the original dump.
What's the solution of coding a key and getting this vehicle going?

One more thing is that VVDI Identifies it as NEC + 24C32 whereas this cluster is actually 24C64. I opened it and checked it too......

Upload any 24c64 immo block to it and restart it. Than act like all key lost.
    May work i think
