No if you have working key. Test in diagnostic window if you can communicate with bcm

    Thanks Ghostrider 👍🏻

Went into diag box top right it just hung with no communication. Isn’t the unit as done a Golf 7 straight after it.

Would BCM be locked on a car this old ?

If so will VAG helper get me in ?

Iv seen A4 2012 go into Audi for work and come out with upgraded BCM.
Then vag helper is your friend

    Thanks Doolittle 👍🏻

Did ask customer if car was serviced by Audi and they said it wasn’t but could have been previous owner. Thought being 2009 be ok but........

Reading through all posts on here VVDI2 seems to have had bug issues with BCM’s on these A5,6, 4’s hopefully ironed out now as don’t want to brick this one 😬

I’ll try VAG helper see if it will do the business

If it's updated and you will try to read and it won't, you just get message 'data lenght error' and that means BCM is updated. If you cant even communicate you have other problem

    Thanks P1et

This one was a nightmare had to park miles away as right in the middle of Belfast so couldn’t get near the car. Was pissing down so all gear in a plastic bag to keep water out. Parked in a 1hr zone etc. One of them jobs 😬😬

I’ve told customer to park it somewhere I can get proper access so will go back and run full scan. Only done a couple of these so wanted to ask what VVDI2 shows on screen if BCM is locked

Cheers Ghostrider I’ll do that as soon as I can arrange proper access and not walking half a mile in the pissing rain.

I don’t envy the guys in the likes of London doing this job must face this parking/access problem daily 😬

Not really , you can have new key and it can be locked if is per-programed .
    Unlocked /Virgin means empty transponder.

I have a FVDI arriving tomorrow that will hopefully help me with my current situation, I changed mileage in KOMBI and CAS3, everything worked perfectly but car will not start - it is saying Incorrect DME when trying to CAS->DME sync, and I have the EWS fault code in the DME.

I have a backup dump from my CAS, I am hoping that the VVDI software can get my my ISN to help with the sync.

Can anyone let me know the direction I should go in so that I don't lose my current key memory?

    Thanks

Thanks, have done this multiple times, and wrote the eeprom to a different CAS too but same result.

I think I need to try read the ISN from the MSD80 DME when it arrives tomorrow. Am I right in thinking I then need to put that ISN into the CAS so they match, and install the CAS back into the car without the car turning off?

If the car is turned off, will the ISN change?

    Thanks

I think I've found out, ISN only changes when the car attempts to start, thanks for your help. Fingers crossed the FVDI works well today
