Default Edit your XS EVOLUTION interface to make it equivalent to an original!

    Hello,

Here's a post for the purists of the PSA XS EVOLUTION ACTIA interface!

Edit your interface to make it equivalent to an original.

I do not will detail all the references of the components to be mounted on a clone or replace
(resistors, capacitors and other IC), many of them are already known (full topic on
French forum ...) or easily identifiable with the "Marking code".

Let's start with the photos of a clone interface "made in china" to correct quality welds and
good components placement. Interface that is not a "FULL CHIPs".
Circled in red, the locations to be equipped or components that are replaced:

    Microprocessor PCB:

    Relay PCB:

After an order with RS and Mouser,
We start by removing components "non-original" and clean (Lead free flux remover) PCB,
We put in place new components then are welded
Once all components are in place and the two new PCB cleaned by LFFR, here's what we get:

The rendering is fairly obvious, but it's even more impressive on a good quality "FULL CHIPS", without printing !!!

    These components references lists attached.

Small technical explanation of the three components of the USB input of the microprocessor PCB; replaced on the clone interface of Chinese by capacitors and
    0 ohm resistors:
In practice, it protects the USB input following this scheme:
with a fast common mode choke USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 associated with two TVS diodes for electrostatic discharge deletions.

    Good change ...Enjoy!!!!!

    Regards.

Now computer don't see the lexia anymore. There is supply voltage to usb chip pin 22 (5v) and pin 18 (3.3V). Can you tell me what to check please.IMG_20181220_115033.jpg

I have PSA XS Evolution, which I bought from a small company here in Finland about 10 years ago. It says "Made in France" and has a sticker with 10/2008 marked. It is marked as 9780.Z5 and has a fixed OBDII cable at one end and DB9 to USB cable in the other end.

It seems to have all the components except for the 10 kohm resistor "12". Should it be added? So far I have only used it with older cars (Peugeot 605 and 607) using about 10 years old version of PP2000.

I'm just trying to make Diagbox 7 to work. It flashes the VCI to a new firmware version, but revision stays "B". Is it necessary to upgrade it to "C"? I have tried that, but without success. I would need to make it work with 2016 Peugeot 508 BlueHDi 1.6. Which Diagbox version is needed for that and should my XS Evolution work with it? I now have 7.02, but haven't tried to with my car connected. Yesterday I updated to 7.57, but I ended up with just a frame of Diagbox starting and had to reinstall it.

I have now 7.82 working with my old XS Evolution. It still reports the old B revision, but seems to work with my 2016 car. I doesn't detect engine ECU, but when its type EDC17C60 is given, all functions seem to work.

Probably depends on the firmware of the processor. I have with Diagbox
    the old clone didn't work.

Hey, I’m after v7, has anyone had success using this version on the limited clones? I paid £80 for this and I’m not willing to give up on it just yet

I had the same problem, but if you copy paste the link itself and drop the last part so you only have the attachmentid then strangely it works.
(note: i have no explanation why my brain decided to try this)

I am a bit confused about 4 and 5. The PCB markings are R5 and R6 which seems to suggest 2 resisters, but the component reference list has the following entry:
    4,5 Resistor 47Kohm + capacitor 33nF 1206

Should I read this as 4 should be the 47k and 5 the 33nF ? Or an RC circuit (in series or parallel ?) on both 4 and 5 ?

Also the 4Mhz xtal is obsolete and I can't seem to find anything close to it, if anyone has a suggestion ....
(some others are obsolete to but have replacements)

Edit: I just found a version (the original ?) of this post on a french forum with some extra before/after pictures and 4 and 5 just have 4703 (47kohm) resistors on them , no capacitors as far as I can see.
I also noticed that my relay board (a full version bought 2023, but it is still missing stuff) is actually different from the one of the post. There are no pcb silkscreen symbols, and the back has an extra component below 19 in ops post. So a bit tricky to make some of the changes I guess.
