bad plan!....
Greetings
The ecu in question is a VAG edc17cp14.
I`ve read in a few places that flashing edc16 a lot of times may block the ecu. Restoring the flash counter is easy in edc16, but in edc17?
It is clear that it`s stored in eeprom, and in multiple places. Finding them, correcting them, and then calculating checksum is fine if you know it how to, and have the tools to correct checksum.
Now, if we have a full backup from the same car (flash+e2p) with a lower flash count, let`s say 3, can we simply rewrite our actual eeprom? - with a flash count over 4 - and hope that counter is rolled back?
How this affects the immobiliser since the two eeproms are different?
Any ideas are welcomed
Thanks

Flash counter in the EDC16 ECUs can't block anything. It have relation only with the warranty.
i don't know how is the situation with EDC17, but as mbtun said, flash in boot mode and forget about the counter...
