Default Recording to a Sata HDD

I can record to a usb memory stick on my V8s with no problems, but when I connect a Sata drive several items in the menus are greyed out - everything relating to USB in the Tools menu + PVR and Media Player in the Multimedia menu.

I've tried two Sata drives, a 2.5 and a 3.5 with it's own PSU - they both give the same effect. Unplug them and the settings re-appear.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Thanks for your replies.

Both these drives work fine on my Windows 7 laptop. They are both formatted for NTFS.

I had considered trying FAT32, but isn't that limited to 32gb?

Thanks, well my Software version is 3511HD_07_12_2014 so perhaps I should update that.

However, I don't want to risk bricking it as everything else is working fine and I can live with recording to a memory stick.

So - I think I'll leave things as they are for the time being, having learned t he hard way" if it works don't fix it" after years of always wanting that bit more!
