    Default Openatv 5.2 News

    Did a Software update to my 5.2 image last night and the updated 'autobouquetsmaker 2.0+git1616' corrupted the firmware, ie broke software manager, softpanel manager, Openwebif interface & other things.

    So if using Openatv5.2 don't do any software updates at present until this bug is fixed.

    I tested my 5.1 image with an software update and there is no problems, updates and functions correctly a new Openatv5.1 backup image has been added to post #1

    This problem only effects Openatv5.2, Openatv 5.1 is safe to install and update.

    @martin035

    if you are trying to update any image that has been installed before the 8th march you will corrupt it, this has been pointed out over at ATV you need to do a new fresh clean image install with a release after the 8th march date.

    it's a little hard to do the German translate but they did warn they where trying to implement some form of full flash update feature which resulted in the corruption.

    I had a similar thing happen on my Solo4K i had to reflash with a later image which now has been resolved.

    Regards

    Thanx digicon for the info, but once the update knackered my Zgemma I tried a fresh install using a base image dated 11/3 all was good until I put the autobouquetmaker plugin on, then it corrupted the image.

    But I'll give it a few days and a couple of Google translation later and try again

    Default Openatv 5.2 Rebuilt

    New OpenAtv5.2 Backup Image added.

    • Openatv 5.2 Rebuilt to fix bugs reported at post #162 & #166 Thanx to Digicon on how to fix the issue
    • Channel 5HD moved to All Channel Bouquet channel 171

    Both Openatv5.1 and Openatv5.2 updated, working and OTA update safe.

    If you have the Openatv 5.2 version dated before 14/3/2016 you will need to install this fresh image to overcome any problems.

    @toe471

    I'm using 5.2 since the 23rd of Feb, the only issues I've had are the volume problem and update problem described earlier, now fixed and no issues for 48HR+. Before that I was using 5.1 and again had issues with updates breaking things, then getting fixed.

    IMHO go with 5.2 it will most probably have more long term support.

    Beta it is but after some teething problems it's quite stable now.

    Nope, the picons are built into the image and as their basic picons they take up little room on the internal flash.

    The picons cover most channels except new channels ie showcase+3 or temp channels $ky robots. If you want different picons then delete the picon off the internal flash and install new picons from the download plugin section.

    Why bother updating. Don't fix what's not broke.
    I usually do a clean install twice a year unless there are any major changes or if there's any noticable bugs and even then I prefer a clean install rather than a bits and pieces update.

    A software update now and again should not create any problems after all most updates are for plugins and maybe drivers etc.. that have been updated such as ABM for channel changes or amendments
