Default Unlocking vin in GM RDS Radio

Radio is commonly found in 2003 up gm trucks and SUVs.

I believe this radio was removed from a 03 silverado.

Looks like this is the info on the Chip 9355093 9506l

Using carprog and doing a little research on the topic with the follow thread im not getting a read.

    Any help would be appreciative.

    What are problems?
    24C08.
For run radio on the workbench need send ACC command via SAE J1850 bus each 3-5 seconds.

    Unit's display LOCKED - VIN don't MATCH.

As stated in the two posts above, read 9355093 chip as 24c08 and post dump, along with the VIN of the vehicle it's going in.

Press the number 5 preset and the track up buttons at the same time, keep pressed the buttons and push the power on

So its been a minute since I have had time to start playing around with the radios again. I have a few on the shelf and have tried reading a few. I use carprog and select eeprom with chip 24c08. I read and the fields always come back empty. Do I need to remove the chip from the board? I use carprog daily for GM Speedometers and have had zero issues. Im sure im missing something simple like always but im at a loss at the moment.

I keep pulling up an empty dump every time I read. I know im doing something wrong just not sure what that is. Any ideas? I have tried a few different radios and two different car progs.

Got the clip on the right way? Pin one is bottom left when you can read the writing rightside up.

    Had to ask.

And clean it real well with alcohol before clipping on.

I will try and clean it here in a few. As for clipping its holding on well. I have clipped both ways on a few different radios to cross off any chance of clipping it the wrong way. I will clean try again and report back.

Just did my first one of these today, read 9355093 as 24c08 and at the bottom of the file (locations vary) change the VIN only last 6 numbers. Popped the radio into the truck and works fine.

Anyone know how to virgin one of these so it will work in any vehicle till it writes the VIN?

    Sample file....
