and while people are distracted by the phoney vote, teh country still continues to go to sh*t. How easy it is to deflect voters from seeing the real problems.

EU governments will stick 'two fingers' up to UK if we vote for Brexit, warns Hammond

OTHER European governments will “put two fingers up” to Britain if it votes to leave the EU then tries to negotiate favourable trade terms with the Continent, Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond warned MPs yesterday.

His claim sparked scornful outbursts from eurosceptic Tory MPs in a Commons debate that highlighted the deep splits in their party.

Mr Hammond insisted he remained a “sceptic” about the European Union but staying in on David Cameron’s “best of both worlds” reforms was the best thing for Britain.

He faced repeated critical interruptions from Tory colleagues as he insisted the UK was “stronger, safer and better off” staying in.

But he insisted there would be years of uncertainty about the eventual exit deal if Britain voted on June 23 to leave, with a “chilling effect” on business confidence, investment and job creation in the UK.

It was wrong for pro-leavers to claim Britain will easily be able to negotiate good terms to access Europe’s single market if it leaves.

“To those who say that they would have to negotiate a sweetheart trade deal with a UK outside the EU, I say: there will be no desire at all among the political elites of the remaining 27 member states to help an exiting Britain show that it can prosper outside the EU.

“On the contrary, they will interpret a leave decision as two fingers from the UK, and we can expect precisely the same in return.”

His warning prompted ridicule from some fellow Tories, while Tory MP Nigel Evans stated: “I do not believe that the other countries are vindictive and spiteful and would want to cut their noses off to spite their faces, and indeed if they were like that, is this the sort of people we want to associate ourselves with?”

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/647...Philip-Hammond

The last line is particularly ironic from a party that made a lot of threats when Scotland were getting ready to vote, including not allowing Scotland to use the pound, making sure that Scotland would have to apply to join the EU. Tory government make me with their double standards and half truths. THe yes/no camps are both only interested in how much money they can make from the vote, and not in the best interests of the country.

Merkel U-TURN: Germany laws to restrict migrants as it's predicted 3.6m will come by 2020

GERMANY’S parliament has agreed on laws to clampdown on the record influx of migrants as Chancellor Angela Merkel is forced to play down reports the country will welcome 3.6MILLION refugees by 2020.

As Europe’s escalating migrant crisis shows no signs of abating, German officials have passed a bundle of tough new measures including a two-year ban on family reunions for some asylum seekers today

It will also tighten measures to deport foreign nationals who commit crimes, in the wake of the sickening New Year's Eve sex attacks in Cologne.

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/...en-door-policy

So the EU isn't stopping any government halting migration. It's just that there's no will by our government to do anything, and they always lay the blame with the EU for the Tory parties own incompetence as and when it suits them as usual.

Why would BMW continue to make Rolls Royce cars in the UK if they had to pay tariffs to import them into the EU? It would make sense to make them in Germany instead, that way there are no tariffs, and people in the UK would pay to import them into the UK. Why would any manufacturer want to stay in the UK and pay tariffs to sell goods into the EU?

As for cutting red tape, e.g. on EU H&S grounds, do you not think that any UK goods would still have to comply with EU consumer legislation? Yes they would the same as we make manufacturers comply with UK law for goods sold i the UK. So UK manufactured goods would have to comply with legislation and standards, but would have no influence on which. The out vote is just smoke and mirrors with those that will make money from it urging to vote to leave, while Joe Public will pay the price.

Though in the real vote, if we stay in the EU, Dave will come out with his usual sh*t of "I know what the public want and they voted for me......." - if there was any reason not to vote to stay in the EU it'd be to poke that smug tw@ in the eye.

    and................

The Chancellor softened the ground for more austerity just hours after politicians' latest pay hike was confirmed

Tory slasher George Osborne tonight paved the way for a fresh wave of Conservative cuts - as MPs prepare to pocket an inflation-busting pay hike.

The Chancellor is sharpening his axe ahead of next month’s Budget, despite politicians celebrating a wallet-filling wage boost of ?962 a year.

Parliament’s pay and expenses watchdog earlier confirmed MPs’ basic salaries will rise to ?74,962.

It means MPs will have enjoyed a whopping 11.8% pay lift in just nine months, coming after July’s ?7,000 backdated bonanza.

The cuts must be to pay for the extra that MP's will be getting.

You'eve already elected them, so why would they even bother to to talk any of the voters, they don't need your vote for another 4 years. Expect tax cuts for the masses in the 2020 budget.

    As for the EU.

    How come Germany can

    Kick out immigrants
    Limit benefits for immigrants

Yet the current government in the UK is incapable of doing so? Incompetence springs to mind. Even if teh UK left the EU, the immigrants already working here would not have to leave, and would still get the same benefit they get now.

    Meanwhile

Home Secretary Theresa May was last night accused of rushing her so-called ‘snooper’s charter’ into the Commons while MPs are distracted by the EU referendum campaign.
Tory rebels joined forces with Labour to criticise the Home Secretary for hastily putting the Draft Investigatory Powers Bill to a Commons vote next week, despite warnings from MPs that it did not sufficiently address concerns about the intrusive spying powers of the intelligence agencies.
Mrs May has called for MI5, MI6 and GCHQ to be allowed to access the web browsing histories of UK citizens for up to 12 months, among other new ‘snooping’ measures designed to combat the terror threat.
The powerful Intelligence and Security Committee, chaired by former Tory Attorney General Dominic Grieve, was one of three committees to complain that the new powers did not appear to have been ‘fully thought through’.
Tory rebels also expected the House of Lords to force the Government to insert more protections for civil liberties into the legislation.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...istracted.html

It's a great distraction this EU vote.

Yet again another EU country that can manage to pass laws to keep out immigrants, yet the Tory government in Westminster claims it can't? It isn't the EU we need to leave, it's incompetent UK governments that can't be bothered to get their act together and keep using the EU as a scapegoat. Wake up and smell the roses

So that ends the myth of having to leave the EU to limit immigrants and benefits. Why did you want to vote to leave the EU again?

I would strongly suspect that the reasons for the vote are similar to the following

    1) To increase Dave's reputation
    2) To shut his party up
    3) Protect bankers from legislation that would restrict them effing up the country again
    4) Not for the benefit of ordinary working people

As I've eluded to many times I suspect anything around "giving sovereignty back to the UK" will involve erosion of rights of the individual/employee more than anything else, e.g. to remove the restrictions of the WTD, to allow for mass collection of data and attempted control of internet. Guilty until proven innocent.

Switzerland a non EU- EU state vote today in a national referendum whether they will kick migrants who have committed criminal offence out of there country.
Switzerland regularly have referendums of the top issue in their country more democratic and doing nicely outside the EU that they can afford the EU blackmail they have to pay the EU
