Default anyone recommend cctv solutions or sites?

I want to rig up a few cameras, not sure yet of i want a DVR or use an old laptop.

Id like the ability for perhaps record on motion detection or email photos or copy video to ftp or cloud.

anyone know where i should start looking for options?

    cheers!

Best thing, go to a cctv company, ask for a free quote
& survey, take it from there.

do you want it for 1 room flat on 100th floor
or are you a grufty farmer that wants to film his
pigs & goats shagging from comfort of mansion
    100 miles away!

First of all, if you want to setup a video setup, dont use a computer, their hdd is garbage for constant reading and writing. So I would recommend you use a proper NVR with WD Purple HDD (surveillance).

For cameras, it depends, do you want to spend lots of money at once, or keep spending little by little? I would personally recommend going with hikvision, they are a little expensive BUT You can view live/playback using your phone too, if you get their NVR. It records on the hdd at home, and you can access it from anywhere using your laptop of phone.

It has motion detection, but can only be accessed/viewed by the NVR, not your phone. I have 5 of them installed and they work great. It all comes down to your personal choice.

They look a little different then what I have ordered, but should be very much similar.

    https://www.amazon.ca/Hikvision-DS-2...ords=hikvision

For NVR, I went with a knockoff/similar brand to the hikvision. It's called Spider NVR, it was sold locally and I got it for about $400 CAD. It is the exact thing on the inside. It came with a 2TB HDD (Purple surveillance)

I can give u the model number, SC-318p8-8.

The gui and everything else is the EXACT same, I just didn't pay for the brand

EDIT: They come with built in POE switches and everything, so just run some cat6 cable and its all plug and play, you only need one cable, even though the camera has 2 cables coming out of it. SO, keep that in mind.
