Sorry, I can't recall his name, look up for similar problem in this thread earlier.

Btw, does your X431 ask to call Launch office to receive unlock code? I know some cases when people got their x431 locked same way when they try to tamper the software on CF.

so i know my way around software and how it functions etc,

i left some information off my post, my launch actually locked whilst being used by an employee,

now i have asked him what he actually did and he reckons it 'just froze' now i cant see that is the case as it was working fine for quite a while and all my mates who i done cards for theirs is working fine, so im thinking maybe he pressed update super 16 or something else on the screen, in other words some kind of update built into the software on the CF card that wasnt removed that didnt match my serial number

it definately isnt an attempt from launch to stop my card working that would be crazy to even think that

im just thinking the display drivers or some kind of firmware was updated

so all i was asking for was if anyone had some kind of a fix or any ideas

Sorry about your tool... I'm almost sure it wasnt the update... why? Because i saw the same problem on other tools with a genuine and payed update. On the last 4 years, i saw that happen on more then 10 x431... Even on units in warranty. On all this units, the problem was the main unit and never the Smart Box. When asked about this problem, launch says it should be caused by cf card.

This is common problem for VW, most likely K line driver in your smartbox is blown.
