Hull's caretaker manager Mike Phelan hailed his players' commitment and effort after they beat Swansea 2-0 to maintain their perfect start to the season.
The newly-promoted Tigers, who stunned Leicester on the opening day of the campaign, grabbed their second consecutive win thanks to late goals from substitute Shaun Maloney and Abel Hernandez.

Hull cause another shock

It keeps them flying high in the Premier League table despite a chaotic summer which has left them with no permanent manager and just 13 fit senior players.

"This Premier League can be brutal but at the moment we are riding a bit of a wave," said Phelan. "Credit to everybody working at this football club and credit to the players for the effort they've put in."
Hull had to soak up long periods of pressure at the Liberty Stadium, with Eldin Jakupovic tipping a Gylfi Sigurdsson effort onto the crossbar as Swansea dominated the first half.

"We knew the quality Swansea had, we knew that they would keep possession really well," said Phelan. "We decided, do we chase that? Or do we just stay compact and save some energy? Overall, I felt the players' commitment, their effort and their discipline was really good, and it paid off for us."
Maloney turned the game after coming off the bench, finishing Robert Snodgrass' corner from close range before setting up Hernandez for Hull's breakaway second goal in stoppage time.
It capped a brilliant week for Hull, and there could soon be good news off the pitch, with Sky sources saying a group of Chinese investors are hopeful of completing a deal to buy the club imminently.
"It's common knowledge now that there is something around the corner for this football club," said Phelan. "Hopefully the correct decisions are made going forward.

Charlie Nicholas shares his views on the game between Swansea City and Hull City at the Liberty City Stadium

"We've inspired Hull. Not just as a football club but as a city. It's given them a little bit of belief. There are a lot more games to go but in the past two weeks we've put some smiles on their faces."
One of the decisions facing potential new owners would be whether to appoint Phelan permanently, and the former Manchester United coach hopes the club will also be busy in the transfer market before the deadline.
"As long as we continue winning, I could be the longest caretaker manager ever!" he said. "I'm pleased to be around these players. They've put in a good shift. They've worked really hard training. Hopefully in the next 10 days or so we can bring some more talented players to this club. Now we've won two games, maybe players will want to come."
