Joe Hart returned to the Manchester City side as they hosted Steaua Bucharest in the second leg of their Champions League play-off at the Etihad Stadium.
The England goalkeeper was handed the captain's armband and recalled by Pep Guardiola after being left on the bench for the first three games of the season by City's new manager.
However, the 29-year-old's appearance was unlikely to allay speculation over his future with the club poised to complete the signing of Chile keeper Claudio Bravo from Barcelona.

Willy Caballero has taken over from Joe Hart between the posts

Hart, whose poster has been removed from outside the Etihad Stadium, has been linked with a move away from City since losing his place to Willy Caballero at the start of the campaign.
UEFA have confirmed the Shrewsbury-born keeper will still be available to play in the Champions League or Europa League for another team should he leave City.

Midfielder Yaya Toure also made his first appearance of the season against Steaua after being overlooked completely for the first three games.
With City going into the match leading 5-0 on aggregate and seemingly certain of a place in the group stage, 19-year-old Spanish right-back Pablo Maffeo was handed a debut.
Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, David Silva and Fernandinho were among the substitutes while Kevin De Bruyne and Nicolas Otamendi were given the night off.
