i want to learn a few words in sign language, my nieces partners niece is deaf, she is coming to live with my niece, i dont want to go into to many details as to why etc, so can any one point me in the right direction as to where to learn a few words in sign fairly quick, no pish taking please as this is serious, and i will can ya ass, i will say theres a lot of shoite gone off in this young ladys life and shes only 14.

Good luck with the learning part...
Just in case keep a notebook and a pen handy,sticky notes works also
Not the best way but rules out the guessing part...
And you must be aware that sometimes deaf people learn fast how to read lips and body language
Try to speak when they can see your mouth, try to make your presence noticed in other way that sounds,flick a light...
Pretty hard to leave with somebody that can't hear,it will be a steep learning curve for you

There are indeed many versions of sign language. And they vary for age groups as well. Mr Tumble for example uses makaton, and my son uses that, so you can pick up lots from watching that program.
There are plenty of videos on youtube showing sign language, even ones with swearing! Best bit of swearing I can do in sign language is "You donkey raping shite eater" Doesn't come in handy to much tbh. But the makaton we use everyday.
