Default Best New (used) Laptop suggestions

Hi all, i am looking to change my current laptop and would welcome suggestions as to what to go for. I am looking at maybe ?3-400 for a used laptop which i want to run ISTA/P & D along with tools for keys /EIS/ESL work (MB, AUDI,BMW). Any idea's on minimum spec to go for.

Also, so many links on here to ISTA P/D that are either dead or dont work. Anyone have good links

    Thanks in advance

Iirc Ista requires a 2,2 GHz cpu with 2 cores and needs much ram, especially if it runs in a vm.
The Nvidia gpu (nvs 110, nvs 135) which was used in some D620/D630 is known to get faulty (as in other laptops, too). The Dell D520/D530 are similar but always with intel gpu (and with 4:3 screen instead of widescreen). The hdd is very easy to change, too. One hdd caddy is enough, put a naked sata drive in it an slide it into the laptop. Screws can be used but not nessesary.

I run a couple of toshiba portege, they give good service. They also turn into tablet, so you can run vehicle with it on your lap. Very stable machines.

CF19 with win 7 pro split the hard drive into partitions and reload windows onto it in each partition.
Also has xp with virtual mode for free from microsoft.

Thanks all, i have bought a Dell E6420 (i5 dual core 2.5Ghz). It seems very rugged and certainly fast . Its got a 500 GB disk but i am going to add a SD hard drive in the DVD caddy and i need more ram (only 4 GB at present). I managed to get a VD running with ISTA D & P but i will probably use Acronis or similiar and clone it to the SD
So far quite happy and it didn't break the bank

    forget win 10.
good that you haven't bought DEll d630 for ISTA!

Myself Dell D630 for all diagnostics except Ista, DEll e6430 with SSD for ISTA.

DEll d630 good cheap laptop for WIN XP, but getting too slow for german dealer tools.
One day will move VAG and MB to newer laptop.

I use cf19 with multiple HDs the HD carage just slides in. Better than having just the software you need with no clashes faster to boot and faster to use. Easy to bugger up a whole lot of work when a multi boot goes wrong. And you loose all your software. And VM have there place but need a well specked PCs if to not be painfully slow.
