    Default back to basics !

    Hello Everyone,
sorry for my stupid question, i know this must have been discussed more often and i appologise, i wanted to know step by step
how does these car electronics work, I am an old school mechanic, which no longer practice, my trade is in building especially
    am heating engineer.

Now i have been told that in cars the Key ,Bcm, ECU, Fuse box and Power steering they are all coded in pair, It is not possible
to modify thing like BCM, fuse box and power steering to be universal which can be inter change with other Same make of car.
say nissan micra fuse box can be fitted on other micra or Bcm ECU vice versa ?

I understand Key is for security purpose
also some guide on why these electronic items need to be in pair.?

    thank you guys

    Hi,
I want the BCM in nissan micra to be universal , means u can put in any same micra, not to be coded specifically, also main fuse box to make it normal one like removing the chip from inside to plug and play ones. Is it possible ?

    thanks

He wants to make an ecu for testing unit for his workshop. So, if he think ecu damaged, he can just swap ecu physical and try to start. That?s what i think. Good idea, i had also the same idea before years for my 24h road service. But i have to say, this is impossible on most cars. You have to swap internal memory with immobilizer data. Otherwise, it would be too easy for a car thief and immobilizer would not have any sense. If anybody want to steal a car, he has just to open the hood and swap ecu, not good.
I have to say, if you want to start in "ecu-business", you have to buy programmers and you have to learn the procedures mate. Not easy but possible. Members on this forum spent thousands of euros to buy the "right" programming interfaces...
