backup ktag question

Hi all, i?m newibie with ktag, yesterday i did my first bakcup, the ecu was a me 7.5.
Reading backup file size is 342 kb, smaller than flash reading .

If i read only flash file size is 1024kb, furthermore when the reading of the back up ends i can choose to save in one file or in three differents files (micro, flash and eprom) if i chose to split it on three, the sizes of each one are correct (1024kb 32 kb and 1 kb ) but if i chose just one file, size is 342 as i said before.

How is it possible??, full back up must to be 1057 kb, am i right?

chose 3 files backup. something rong about size of one file

On other forum someone said me that ktag encryptes full backups and that?s reason of the small size, but no idea.

Does ktag asked you to save separate files? If yes choose that option and see if the files have the same size

Read full bdm, when done Ktag aske do save files separetly, choose yes. It will save micro, flash and eeprom(if they exsist) separetly. Fourth file is full crypted file, wich contains all information, file size does not matter it is crypted and can be used only with ktag, maybe trashdata also not sure.

Well, crypted is not the right term, better say packed. Crypt not explain size reduction, but pack does.

And ... Me7.5 does not have BDM access, c167 micro based ecu not MPC.
