Futura Pro Decoding Standard Keys

Mates I have Futura Pro, I'm having difficulties decoding some standard keys
looks like the optical reader isn't the ideal way to decode standard keys since it doesn't do contact with the key for decoding

I decoded one ford key I could tell the cuts were 1-3-3 .... the machine decoded the key it showed 1-3-2 . . . .
same thing happened on Toyota and some Mazda's .
Do I have a bad machine or its just the optical reader doesn't do it's job

I have an original futura and it decodes keys that are not super worn just fine as long is they're clamped correctly. Quicker to decode by eye to be honest.
