    Default Gambit Key Programmer

I bought a BMW 118i 2008 car with only one key. I have since bought a new blank remote key and a Gambit programmer, but not sure yet how to use it.
Does anyone know if there is a tutorial anywhere that explains the programming procedure?

    Gambit cannot program that key.
Guided fault finding = Feature that many factory scan-tools have and real technician despise it.

Oh dear that's bad news! The Gambit specification suggests that it can program keys for BMW with CAS3 immo.

Can you give me any advice on what I should do?

It sounds like you are a beginner with these things and you have just this one programmer gambit at home. In most cases, on newer vehicles, you need different premium (expensive) programmers and experiences with smd soldering and car electronics. Of sure, you can learn this and you can buy premium tools. But if you want to make just this one key, it?s the cheapest solution to go to dealer ! Believe me ! I spent nearly 20000 Euro to get my equipment and this is nothing compared with other users of this board !

there are many tools that can do this car as suggested. Personally, I use AVDI, but I think VVDI2 would do it. Also BMW multitool, zedfull(I think) & others. But as suggested the cost of all of these are very high if only doing 1 car. Best choice is get someone from here that is local to you to come out & do it on site & pay them accordingly

Thank you all for your comments.

I'm not quite a beginner as I do SMD soldering on computers and smartphones plus occasional chip programming. However I didn't expect to have to go that far just to program one car key!

    As requested by indienick

The cqae suggestion is a possibility. So is there anyone with suitable equipment available in Devon, UK?

I posted a pic of my working key in the general reply to the thread contributors.
Is there any more you can tell me about programming a second key or is the Gambit gadget a waste of money?

Gambit is one of the oldest programmers, like atari, commodore 64, but respect, scorpio has turned it into tango

Not that old surely! Are you suggesting that the scorpio tango software will work with the Gambit hardware?
