    Default Wheel alignment questions

    Hello everyone.

    I own a VW Golf Mk6 2011 1.6 TDI (77KW), Front wheel drive, car weights 1310 kg.
    I am an average driver who mostly drives in the city. 95% of the time I also drive alone and with unloaded vehicle (no passengers, nothing in the trunk).

    I want to make a wheel alignment which would extend tire life and provide a little better fuel economy.

    What would be your suggestions for such alignment?
    As this is FWD car, from what I understand is the toe-in on the front should be reduced (like 0*02') and negative camber on the front reduced too (say to -0*30').
    Rear toe can stay in the middle at 0*05' and the rear camber slightly reduced at approx -0*50'.

    What do you guys think?
    Am I right with my assumptions or wrong?
    And recommendations?

    The factory specifications are the following:

    Just wondering who came up with the idea that messing with a proper alignment will get better fuel economy???
    Over inflated tires,AC off,remove excess weight and a rubber duck under the gas pedal can do magic to fuel economy..
    A failure will not appear till a unit has passed final inspection

    The car will be brought to alignment shop as some suspension work has been done, so it needs alignment anyway.
    The "proper alignment" is something what is more or less universal to all situations.
    I think that everyone can fine-tune for the needs they use most.

    Not telling I'm having a bad fuel economy but..
    I think that my front tires wear a little too fast having in mind my driving style.
    If I optimise the alignment for my driving style, then logic says I could get even better fuel economy, at least not worse. But fuel economy is not something what I really worried about, it's the tire life...

    tyre life can be improved by getting good tyres,keeping them inflated correctly and checking alignment every 3 months,tyres out of line can be felt with running your hand the opposite way wheel rotates, a raised side lip on the edge like teeth in the palm of your hand is a sign its out again.get it adjusted.

    Excellent post for everyone. FYI, I only use good tyres (currently Bridgestone Turanza ER300, made in France, not Poland).
    I check and adjust tyre pressure religiously every 14 days.
    I check for "sharp edges" with my palm now and then.
    I also have the tyres balanced every season (for summer tyres it's April, for winter it's November). I also inspect rims for damage/bending.

    However, I don't check the alignment that often.

    I did an alignment a month ago. Asked to do this:
    Rear:
    toe at 0*03'
    camber at -1*15'

    Front:
    Caster not djustable but identical on both sides (don't remember the numbers)
    toe at 0*04'
    camber not fully adjustable but -0*38' on one side and -0*41' on other side.

    Drives straight like on rails.
