charge batery, and use charger when you reading and writing ecu
Hello, I have recently recieved my MPPS v16 clone and tested reading ECU on couple of cars successfully. But I get an error while reading A6 2.5TDI 110kW (150HP) EDC15 K-Line. I can read the ECU data by pressing ECU id button. But attempting to read the ECU fails with an error. I also hear clicking sound in the instrument cluster. I tried removing the cluster fuse no.15 and still had no luck. What I did not try is removing no.11 fuse too and removing the aftermarket stereo. Battery voltage is above 12V, I use win XP. If removing fuse 15, 11 and stereo won't work -- what else I could try? Could I remove the ecu and connect straight to ECU via its harness? I would need some custom cable I believe or I could remove obd socket from some scrap car and mod it? What do you think?
Thanks for any info in advance!

Thanks for the info people, I will take the ECU out and see if it's the same. And yes, I had 12V stable supply, so I don't think that was the problem, I need to check i it is one of those which you can't read via OBD. Will update this thread tomorrow.

I made simple adapter for this ECU using female OBD cable. Followed one of the tutorials found on net.
