Both should play the files native and no other codecs required.

hi guys
ive just built a new pc and its more than capable of playing anything i believe
intel i7 7700k 4.2ghz
32gb ram
nvidia geeforce gtx 1080
Windows 10 pro x64
both cpu and gfx are watercooled
now if i try play a video file which is x264 it plays perfectly
BUT if i throw a x265 at it i get green blocky screen
jittery playback
its naff is what it is
im sure it can play but just dont know whats missing
i installed CCCP codecs
not sure what to do now
im sure its just a codec somewhere thats pissing about
any help here greatly appreciated

You could try forcing Vlc to render the video via your gfx card also.
Where are you watching them from? A ssd? Hdd or over network/ Internet

Try installing k-lite mega codec pack. Google for it. Never had any problems with it and using its media player classic.
the movie file is directly on my pc hard drive
not 4k no was a 1080p one but was x265
tried latest VLC also fails and blocky glitchy as said above
cunny mate how do you force vlc to render if=t by my gfx card ?

Sorry to bump an old thread, but ive just had exact same issue and it was resolved by installing codecs on thier own, seems VLC does not like 4k playback as was choppy and sound was poor
