As i know, this ECU must be drilled. Not opened. If you try to open ECU you damage it.
Hi,
I wanted to know what cpu I have in ECU, so I removed ECU from the car and opened it. After taking some photos I put it back. After that engine is not starting.
Before removing and installing back I unpluged car battery. After that I connected car battery and tried to start the engine. There was error drive stabilisation failure and drivetrain malfunction. I disconnected battery and checked ECU connections. The bigger ECU plug was not properly pluged (not fully seated). I corrected this and again connected battery. The engine did not start. After that I diagnosed car with ISTA/D, which said DDE not responding.
Did anyone have experience with this devices?
As far I know I didn't mechanical/physically damaged ecu pcb. There is chace of static electricity. Is problem with not fully seated plug? I will buy bootmode reader to circumvent can bus to see if cpu is still alive.
If I buy used ecu as replacement, what steps should i take? Will donor ecu work with my car?

Thanks Inquizit0r. This ECU was opened by others so I think its not damaged because of opening. As I see it, there is no light sensor or some other death switch built in. Maybe some soldered component on pcb came loose when opening and heating will help?
Update: I end up buying second hand ECU EDC17C50. I transfered TC1797 to second hand ECU. Car started at first try.
Do someone know what thermal glue to use after putting together? Grey on pictures above.
you only install TC1797 on second ecu without immo off?
Always use glue when you close ecu!!

Yes, steps ware:
1. Uninstall original TC1797 from original ECU.
2. Uninstall donor TC1797 from donor ECU.
3. Install original TC1797 in donor ECU.
4. Plug donor ECU (with original TC1797) in car.
In my case, part numbers of both ECUs matched.
What glue do you recomend?

I use black silicone,
How can you unsolder the processor tc1797?
You need adapter or?

You use black silicone on the edges to waterproof seal the case. But what do you use to conduct thermal from printed circuit board and chips to the heat sink (enclosure)? Original is some hardened grey glue.
You can unsolder tc1797 with air heat gun. That is easy. The problem is soldering back, tc1797 has BGA pads.
congratulations for soldering skills!
