Default Kebab shop supplier jailed for using cement mixer to make chicken doner

A man who used a cement mixer to supply chicken doner meat to kebab shops around London and south-east England has been jailed and ordered to pay a fine of more than £50,000.

Sukru Ahmet, 60, from Sidcup, was found to be storing six tonnes of frozen poultry which did not have a use-by date or had expired.

Mr Ahmet’s company UK Chicken Doner and Poultry Ltd, based in Swanley in Kent, was also selling chicken from Germany labelled as British meat.

He was also found to be processing meat using a converted cement mixer.

Mr Ahmet admitted to 21 charges of breaking food safety laws at Maidstone Crown Court in March.

He has been jailed for four months and ordered to pay fines and costs of £53,760 and he has been banned from running a food business in the future.

Hygiene inspectors raided his Swanley plant and Mr Ahmet promised to cease operations, but two months later, he was found to still be processing meat.

He was issued another warning, but a further inspection several months later found Mr Ahmet was still selling poultry products, including doner kebab meat.

The meat was later ruled by magistrates to be unfit for human consumption.

Sevenoaks councillor Matthew Dickins said: “This is one of the most serious breaches of food safety laws the council has ever come across.

“Consumers must have confidence that their meat is prepared in a safe, approved environment and is fit for them to eat.”

As long as the mixer is "new" never raced, rallied or had b&q cement in, what does it matter?

“This is one of the most serious breaches of food safety laws the council has ever come across", really?, from the pic it looks like stainless steel, same material as many food processing machines. And it looks like a brand new machine never used for cement. Poor kebab guy.

Well if you go out to eat kebab you kinda have to expect what you are going to get otherwise you do like me, you cook homemade ravioli with filetto sauce at 3am (turns out i was only drunk and not hungry, my dogs loved it anyway). I have a few family members that are professional chefs, you wouldn't imagine whats going down in the kitchen of the most expensive retaurants.

It looks like a well maintained cement mixer. I note it has a towbar fitted so as long as his MOT and VED is up to date it should be perfectly legit to park it in a layby
I'm sure the building in the picture is just the garage where he stores his mobile cement mixer correction doner mixer!
Most things imported from Germany are of higher quality. Sure its just a mis-understanding

Well I'd certainly buy the cement mixer from him if he needs to get rid of the evidence quickly and needed some pocket change. he wasn't really jailed for using the cement mixer though. The article was so inaccurate I thought it was from the usual comics like the Sun, Daily Express or Daily Mail. It's like saying Dennis Nilsen was jailed for mixing his meats on the fridge shelf really. And no I'm not making light of what Dennis did, before anyone starts throwing rocks from inside their greenhouse.

Meaty, that's your project set for the year, created a demixer, it will even help SJ separate himself from B&Q tornadoes and yourself from reality

Takes the award for crappiest opening sentence of any article in the history of so called reporting. Wonder if he drove it from kebab shop to kebab shop to avoid having to pay the charge for driving a car in London? Scrap your cars buy a cement mixer *shrug*
