Save a fortune on lighting. Are you trying to give the government excuses to nuke the nation in the name of saving money 'cos we're all in this together by any chance?

Not a problem, Joe Public is paying for that, won't cost the government a penny.

That will come from the current supply that we have. This will

    1) Give companies the excuse to raise prices, because of demand
    2) Give the government more money from the tax on energy in the name of green taxes, and will make up for the loss in excise duty for cars
    3) Ensure that the cost of electricity paid for by consumers reaches their target of doubling energy costs to pay EDF and the Chinese for Hinkley

Easy stuff eh. You really do need to think of the bigger picture. Nothing the government or any company does is for the good of the taxpayer. It's all about the money, long, medium and short term.
