Hi Gents. I lost the key of my Range Rover Vogue 2010. I bought a new key from LR Dealership, but could not program. When I contacted the LR dealership they advised me to buy the KVM. I ordered it and I asked where it was located in the car and they sent me a photo indicating the location. I contacted a technician and disassembled the roof of my car but the Kvm is not there. Any one here can assist me with the KVM location in this vehicle?
Also would like to know if the KVM has to be programmed and then the key or its just the new key to be programmed to the new KVM.

    Thanks......

Behind panel on lhs in boot. KVM will need to be programmed to vehicle and keys programmed as part of process. Just programming keys is not enough. What tool did you use to try and program keys to original kvm?

    Hi Cr4nky,
Im using the SKP-900 to program the new key to the old KVM.
Would this machine program the new KVM and new key without any hustle?
    Would really appreciate your assistance

Sorry to be persistent..... Im still not sure if the SKP-900 can do the operation is good .

Note: My english is note as good as should be. Am writing from Mozambique- Africa
The Dealership representative here would take months to have this sorted and to tow the car to the nearest country with LR dealership is not below $1200 .

Skp 900 will not program a new KVM to vehicle. If KVM has had security update, SKP won't program keys.

AVDI since last update is in my experience now working very well on these, and may program a new key to your original kvm. JLR doctor should also be able to do this.

To program a new kvm, you need SDD (dealer tool), but autologic should be able to do it as well.

I hope that makes it clearer for you.

Search for Abrites AVDI, please note that I said "may" be able to do it. I don't know about that tool. If you don't have equipment for this job, maybe better to find someone who does.

maybe a good locksmith to start would have saved you buying a new KVM. If you have any in your area that is. 2010, and if you say no dealers in your country i cant see it having the new security update, so the key should have gone in with normal kit.

Default Some Tips on how to do all lost landrover or spares with kvm update

Some tips for all keys lost

When SDD does not read VIN then enter vin manually to login to car on SDD will turn on ignition when its on and also when alarm is on still reads

Try the Add key option if you have no old keys and no need to recover them

you will find out at this point if update is already locked KVM in the past

when soft tries to talk with KVM it fails and cant get in the programming sequence then chance is KVM is locked

then use some chip programmer to Read kvm and virginize or get a new one and replace old one

After replacing kvm go to the service functions and then will see option to program new kvm

autologic no luck so far on programming the kvms for me only latest jlr SDD worked for me
A good version of the kit can be found here that was used

    Hello All,
I have a somehow similar problem with a customer range rover sport 2010, car was working fine and key working ok.
Car came to me only starting if smart key placed under steering column.
Check if the smart key working and emitting frequency and all seems ok in the key.
Tried to program a new key with avdi, but avdi seems not to have access to the kvm, and it says "498141898 keys programmed" so i didnt continue with key programming.
Scanned the car with x431 and got dtc U0214 Lost communication with the remote function actuation, at the bcm module

On a side note, when i scan the car, i dont see "KVM" in the modules, i have no idea if it should show or not...just a thought

Car does not lock or unlock with the smart key.

Battery is fine, and i always use battery support

I tried plugging another used kvm, and got same exact outocome in all processes (key learning, scanning) and same dtc. Did that just to check if would see a KVM module while scanning.

I have avdi, mdp pad, vvdi prog, vvdi2, skp, obdstar pad.

    any help is apreciated

Presumably you have tried a battery reset?
