2017 Silverado, Not Allowing on Board Programming

I had a 2017 Chevy Silverado, circle plus laser key, would not take new key with on-board programming at used car lot. They sent vehicle to Dealership, and the report I got back, from lot was that the PCM had to be "reflashed" to allow programming of keys. On board programming now works. Has anyone run into this? I'm not sure what they meant by reflashing, if they truly did reflash or just did something with PCM with dealer equipment. I hope it is not a trend, I have done several other on board 2015-2017 Silverados without a hiccup.

Did you get the pin from the Dealer in order to program? or you manage to force ign to ON pos to read PIN?
It is a smart key correct?

Pin not needed for on board programming. As I said, laser cut circle plus key. Just adding a key with one good key is simple procedure on most gm, but not this one.

From 2014 and up gm has changed a little , you need 2 programed keys in your hand to add 3rd key. like ford. if you have only one key you can not do onbord programming , use a good key programmer to add a key or online sps programing.

Close but not true. Reset can be done using 2 new key (extended) one keys possible but your light will stay on because it wanting to close the system.

also i believe it started in 2017

not 2014

ive done a 2016 with obp and AKL with 3 x 10

also the circle plus key is not for the silverado you need the b119 which does NOT have the circle plus logo stamped on it

the circle plus stamped b120 is only for

Chevrolet, Chevy
- Express, 2015-2017
GMC
- Savana, 2015-2017
- saturn astra 2008-2010

I put down wrong key on my post, I double checked job sheet, I did use right blank B119 on job. The mind starts to go when you get my age. Thanks for catching that.

ive done the 3+10 on all keys lost a bunch on 2017 silverado

Sps is the best (have Smart box but normally I use sps)
One key - not enough
What else need to know?

I have flood Yukon, 17 smart key, no proper way to check if key belongs to it,.. need more info
