I've never used kess on this ecu.

Does it id with your ktag?

Are you sure about that? When I try to read/write/id it with kess it says cant ID it but suggest I go into TOOLS and do a TOTAL read or write.
I managed to read a full dump that way, it ended up in a single file that is 2177KB

No I am not sure as like I said I have never used kess on that ecu.

Yes when writing with Ktag there is no error message. Everything seems normal until I read the file or try to start the car
And yes it identifies the ECU

Yes, when I flash the ori file or the tuned file it ask me to compare it with the ori file for checksum

As I already said I've never used kess on these ecus so you have here over 4 full bench reads. And to say thanks on this forum you click the buttons. Not post it.

IMHO the total backup is flash (mpc) and eeprom in one file so you can restore the ECU to original and you can write it back only with kess. There is no way (at least I have not found one) to separate it.

Yeah I just wanted to try and flash a total backup (if I can find one) with kess, because every time I flash mpc with ktag the file gets corrupted.

Yes I did, it must be a problem with my Ktag. I have solved the issue now

Thanks a lot. I flashed the 160hp ori with ktag, it also got corrupted like my ori file but not that much. This file already have data in that corrupted area and it looks like it helped.
The car started with the flash and also Kess IDed the ECU.
I then flashed my tune file using Kess tricore and it wrote it with no issues, then read it again and its a 100% match so no problems with Kess tricore on this ECU using 2.23sw and 5.017FW
So looks like the problem is with my Ktag or 7.020 ktag in general for this ECU.
