vw golf 4 ecu swap help

hi I am trying to swap an ecu on a vw golf 4 can I read the immo with carprog if yes please witch eprom to read and do I have to dismount it from the ecu

Check first what unit you have.To swap the best is find another with same number.
With the indentification of unit go to the program and see what information you have for it.
There are lot of golf4 and units are not the same.

I have found the same ecu all I need is how to pass the immo files so it will start , I have the abrites and I went to ecu clone but I am not sure if it will do the job I never done it before , I thought maybe by removing the eprom from and put it to new it will do the job

just find the eeprom and swap them over. it might be 95040, 24c04 or similar.
