    Default TL866 + soic8 clip read issue

Hello, maybe someone can help me with TL866 programer.
I want to read eeprom 93c56A from Opel Gid screen without desoldering the chip. First i unsolder it and put direct in programer read result OK. After that take a soic8 clip, put a chip into it and read result Ok. Then solder it back to circuit ant try read with clip, then i get alarm:
Overcurrent protection actions external short circuit/ic reverse or damaged. After that tried unsolder, put into clip and read is also again good, then chip is unsoldered.
    Any ideas?0

Tl866 do not read in circuit. Use other programmer like carprog.

Right, even if you manage with reading It in curcuit, you cannot be sure about the result. It is always better to read the chip off curcuit with minipro.

This happened because the clamp was inverted.

for tl866 I have one for about 3years ago It cant read incircuit because pin 7 and 8 for eprom are connected together so the programmer stops from reading as not to destroy data on eprom ( I prefer to desolder eproms better or buy a programmer to read incircuit upa , carprog etc

It’s going to work I’ve been selling it with rebadge for 8 years. I had the old style & new style both have the same issue til you make the repair.

I tried this method on tl866a. I can now read in circuit but it reads every chip as filled with ff. So it doesn't actually read the data.
