But you can start with that
Isn't it a case of reading the eeprom using ktag and ksuit. Then use some other software to modify the files read. Then write them back with ksuit?

I know it won't work with 100% of Ecu's but it does seem to work with a lot of them.

What is the most user friendly software to use to modify the files before writing them back ?

    I've just discovered FGTech clone.

    Is this better than Ktag?

You will need both and more. But starting, you can buy FGtech 54, Ktag.

Thanks again for all your help

What can FGTech do that k-tag can't?

From what I've been reading, FGTech seems to be ktag and kess all rolling in to one.

You wont find a cheap programmer that will do everything you want but a good Carprog clone covers quite a lot. Be better to spend a little more for a good clone than spending time reworking it.

So are you saying you would choose carprog over ktag, kess and FGTech?

You need to learn first. Learning isn't just asking what, why and how.....

I use all three and each is good at what it does but if you looking for a Jack-of-all-trades type programmer, Carprog comes closest to it. It can't do what those three ECU programmers do and they can't do what it does. When all's said and done, you're gonna have to get complementary tools.

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm really leaning towards a FGTech clone but I keep reading that it hasn't been updated in a long while.

Do you know when the latest clone was last updated as I can't find any information anywhere?

Also do you know if it would read SID211 ECU's?
