I found info there is two types of keys ID48 CAN & Megamos 88
AVDI Can do it , except JCI dash and Virtual coockpit
transponder : Megamos-extended AES
you have two choices in the morning: go back to bed and continue dreaming, or you get up to make your dreams come true

I've heard AVDI hangs sometimes in the middle of the procedure - making the car completely dead after this.
How about North America Passat end of 2016? It has non-keyless key. It doesn't look like MQB ID88. What tool can do it and what transponder to use?

You were wrong friend - some cars above 2015 and mostly all above 2017 have a newer system which is not MQB and can't be done. Only dealer can help. OBD tools recognise it falsely and can give you a lot of headeich, so be careful! If the key reading tools like VVDI Key tool don't recognise the working key as ID88 then it's not MQB.

I did a mqb Passat the other week with vvdi2, did give a few warnings saying if fails on programming need online dealer tool and also don’t switch the ignition off while programming
everything went well for me and added the new key
types de clés ID48 CAN & Megamos 88 MAGIC3
Its nearly impossible that B8 will use id48. Probably wrong info on autokeys sites.
No problem with abrites and VVDI i test it it works very good.
Only VDO cluster key its 88-AES

Hi guys I am owner of Passat B8 2.0 tdi BMT 2015. and I also have Golf MKIV sdi from 2002.
We have a lot of info and an excellent thread how to retrieve lost and code new keys for old cars here https://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forum...-or-true/page8
But we don't have any useful info for new cars...
It is frustrating to take car to dealer in order to make a new key...
You guys mentioned Abrites and VVDI?
What is this and where could we download them. Thanks...

for akl is were and option to get data with vvdi2 by obd.
You are right! It is frustrating specially for your wallet. So you better go to the local locksmith. If you are just an owner of a car and making keys is not what you work, then better not bother with VVDI and AVDI because they will set you back a lot more than the dealer.
