Default UPA USB in Circuit Adapter Build

    Hi Guys,

I am looking at building the in circuit UPA USB adapter. I have seen the schematic for Bender UPA USB adapter and will be attempting this...

I just had a few questions, Please see attached pictures and see if i have got the setup correct please?

Also, on the left of benders schematic if i want to put serial is it still pins 1-9 on serial?

On the right is pin 1 for serial as i have marked it?

Can you see anything wrong i am doing?

I'm only going to be using microwire mainly to read ford ranger 93c86 eeproms.

    Kind Regards,

I use to make reads on the 24CXX and 93CXX circuit with original UPA and use no adapter.

I think it depends... I can read 93c66 ok and even 93c86 on Nissan but 93c86 on Ford Ranger just erases chip if done in circuit.

    Kind Regards

    just like in picture above
instead of 1 diode i use 2-3 in series
the rest of wires going straight to memory chip

Work for me very well with UPA Programmer-S.
Now I can read what can't read before.

What are you talking about for God's sake ????

UUPA can read in circuit without any "special " adapter !!!!
Just need to adjust Vcc for in-circuit programming .!!!!!!!!

Reducing the operating voltage to the assembly has two effects. The first is that the other components on the assembly, even though active, will present a reduced load. This is because there is less current available to interfere with reading and programming the eeprom in-circuit allowing the push-pull driver to be more effective. The second is that the microcontroller (processor), which will normally start accessing the eeprom when the power is applied to the assembly, will not start at a reduced voltage. This means that invalid data resulting from processor interference does not occur.
Using the voltage reduction technique provides excellent results when reading or programming eeproms in-circuit.

Regarding 2-3 DIODES in serial on PIN 9:

With ordinary silicon diode, with conventional currents, the voltage drop in the conductive diode is approximately 0.6 to 0.7 V.
So it means with 2-3 diodes you guys just drop supply voltage for 1.2-1.8 V from 5 V which is default Voltage on PIN 9.

It can be done more easily if you JUST choose 3.3 V

Or you can use new UUPA-S Professional EEprom adapters for Microwire and I2C/ISP Eeproms which have pads for :

SOIC,TSSOP,DIL and Pins for Inline R/W
