Default Advice for first Locksmith tool

    Hi
I'm a beginner in this business, but I have a lot of experience in remote repairs ... I recently started copying the key (rw4 + with all plugs) ... I would like to buy something to "report" the remote and key in the car. .. what is your advice?what tools?
all I have been reading is not clear to me what everything can do a certain tool...for example for start I need for Citroen,Peugeot and Renault...
    Thanks!!

Xhorse is a good source to start not perfect but they are working on improving. There new tablet will be release by November, Santa Claus will have your package by the 25. Good luck in your career .

You told it will be ready in June, no any info. Then you said they planning to release it in July on ALOA and now you say November. Well I'm not saying anything, it's all OK but I'm curious what November bring. Maybe let's just wait for their official statement on this case... I was hesitating for 3 weeks buying Lonsdor cause you said the tablet will be ready in June and I wanted to wait to compare both.

SBB and CK100,200 is clone of the TKO made by ilco. 2013 was the last upgrade and then plans on the buy out of Ad took place. No one has work on that project sence. China will change the version and new menu but all is the same as 2013. Over time the clones keep loosing parts off the circuit board and things just don’t want to correctly.

Well, after other's pov theres mine:

What you have to have: CK100 cheap and has all the basic knowledge what we are looking for, only v99.99. Exchangeable to CK200 what is overpriced comparing its knowledge to other tools - can only recommend when you have to do lots of American cars. (This is not a flame war, just my point of view!!!)

Another must have is the Super SBB2 for its knowledge and price.

Then I recommend to buy a 2018 FVDI, with all the bundle what they can offer. Be warned: just the blue covered ones are 2018 models. With this tool you can do lots of cars, but be cautious, it can kill the car.

When you wanna spend more money, then buy a Lonsdor with the Toyota stuff. It is expensive, but you can do some cars with ease what can be difficult with other tools.

Wouldn't buy a Clip, just to program Renault cards. Have seen dead cars killed by the Clip clone. If I can test it for free, maybe then would I giveoney for it.

Now you have to have an eprommer. Orange5 is a must have, together with VVDI Prog. For backup you can buy a third: Upa or X-Prog.

And at the end you will need a Tango or a TMPro2. Tango is available as a clone too, some tester told that it does everything what the original does.

But there's the only thing what's the most important what you can have: a good insurance. Sooner or later you will kill a car, then it can be expensive to repair it. Better pay for years without any troubles, as lookin' shocked to the invoice of the repair.
You can find a skeleton in every garderobe...

    Ok.
But if I buy lonsdor 1500$,isn't better to buy smart pro from AD,ask? Smart pro need logs/tokens ?
For start or beginning,my need is for Citroen,Peugeot and Renault..copy keys, new remote...new card and keys...
Other cars in time I have knowledge in programing flashes or eeprom, and other electronic repairs I have electronic service years ago...
I do not want to immediately start opening and programming immo, although I'm aware that somethime can start to go wrong and it will need to do it.

well if wanting something very reliable on peugeot , citroen and renault that can read pin codes and code keys and remotes , your choices become a little more limited .

ive found nothing better than abrites on peugeot and citroen for pin code reading and key coding
id also choose abrites or truecode genuine for renault .

lots of cheaper tools offer peugeot and citroen programming , but very few have extensive pin code reading , plenty of cheap tools are ok on renault but all have their weaknesses too , it depends on the level of coverage and reliability you require and what year of cars you want to do.

smart pro will do what you want and more , it doesnt have the coverage that abrites has but is very good , and yes its token based unless you buy the software you want outright then its token free , tokens can be expensive .

obdstar , lonsdor etc have some psa pin read capability but have alot of gaps so plenty of failures as well .

if you do alot of peugeot citroen all keys lost , then abrites , if you have access to pin codes then most cheap programmers will code the key , if most of your jobs are just spare key jobs then the psa pin reader from diagnostic box is useful for getting the pin code.

for renault truecode is about the best affordable token free solution for these , but again abrites has more coverage .

best advice is to read all the topics you can find on some of the cars you regularly see and see what can be done and with what tool

also to know what cannot be done at all with the tools you have

search here on DK using the search feature

read and read and read some more

and then go read it again

First tool any locksmith should buy is a very good scanner. Seen many instances of them going straight for the key without verifying that the problem will be fixed by a new key. Autel makes reasonably priced scanners and they can indeed program some keys.
