Default Zafira B: Cannot program transponder keys into replaced CIM

I will try to be short..

I have Zafira B 2011 with ESP. The CIM 13306115 AD has a faulty steering angle sensor, I was unable to calibrate it using op-com - angle is not changing. The plastic wheel position was wrong, but setting it into a correct position did not help.

Decided to replace it with a used CIM with the same number. It came without car pass. Tried to restore carpass using VIN - not a chance, it was already reprogrammed. Finally I've unsoldered EEPROM 95160, made a dump and then reflashed it with another dump with known carpass I found here. This dump was for Astra H, but the part number is the same so I hoped it will work.

The car pass was accepted and I was able to reset/program the CIM, but for some reason I'm not able to program transponder keys from my car, op-com just prints it is failed. CIM has an error code P1616-00 CIM (Steering Column Module) Wrong Environment Identifier.

    So, here I'm stuck.
I was able to reset and reprogram keys for my own CIM module using the same op-com, but the same operation does not work on aftermarket cim.

My guess is that Astra H CIM dump is different and cannot be used in Zafira, so a correct dump would be helpful.
    Could somebody please provide it?

Or please let me know if I can solve this problem via some settings I did not find yet?
    I'm using op-com 1.59 with Vaux-COM 120309a if this makes any difference.

My two other options so far:
    1) write back the original dump to the aftermarket CIM since I've already extracted pin from it and try again - not sure it will not end up the same way.
    2) Unsolder eeprom from my original CIM and use it as is/copy dump into the aftermarket CIM - I suspect that the problem with angle sensor is logical and I will end up with the same failed sensor on yet another CIM. Another thing is that I'm a bit nervous about ripping the original CIM as there is a chance to break it.

You should unlock keys before programming to new (used) CIM. To unlock keys you have to use some pro tools which can unlock by wire pcf7941

Sometimes i had the same problem, unable to program old keys. I dont know why. I just program brand new keys or cleared (probably VIA Orange 5). You can copy old eeprom to new CiM, IT should works. I dont think that problem is in eeprom.

    Thanks for replies!

You mean to start with option 1 right? Ok, I already have a pin from original dump of the aftermarket cim so yes, worth trying.

    stachu22
There was no physical damage to the original cim, it was disassembled and reassembled with incorrect position of the plastic wheel, then it got faulty. At least i hope so

    kiszka
So you mean the keys should be programmed fine? Did i miss something in the procedure?

Well, there is a CIM replacement procedure - http://opcomforum.yolasite.com/resources/Opcom%20New%20CIM%20Programming.pdf

    Astra-H / Zafria-B
Before the new CIM is fitted, first note the following:
    Security Code
    V.I.N.
    Mechanical key number
    Variant encoding
    High Speed CAN configuration
    Mid Speed CAN configuration
    Low Speed CAN Configuration
Run a full DTC scan and save the results
Make sure that the V.I.N. in the other control devices consistent with the car
    Reset the old CIM
    Install the new CIM
Configure the CAN-High, Low and Middle configurations
Program V.I.N. and mechanical key number in the new CIM
Program Immobiliser function, (choose CIM installed)
Program the available transponder keys to the new CIM - failure
    ...

The only step I skipped is resetting the old CIM, someone mentioned it is not mandatory. What else is to be done here?

If you have the original file of 95160 of your Cim, write it directly in 95160 of the used cim, do not delete anything.

you need to Change VIN and Mechanical key number to be able to program keys in new CIM, never had any problems changin CIM on Astra H/ Zafira B and even Vectra C/ Signum, no matter what is number of CIM, yesterday I even installed CIM on Vectra C with 93C76 and with 2 driver airbags, instead CIM with one airbag and HC08 MCU, one of the cables stays not connected.
...if you change CIM with same number just copy eeprom to the new one and it's done.

Very quietly, open the two Cim, and move the eeprom 95160, and resolve, already made both Astra H and Zafira B.
