Range rover sport damage integrated transfer case

Hi mates,
Got a range rover sport diesel with damage integrated transfer case and car wouldn't start. The fact that the integrated transfer case is damage prevent car from starting or just reduce driving stability.

rumor states theses ecus, have a habbit of destroying gearboxes, they select random
gears at motorway speeds.

the question is (think it is):-

does the some shaft internal to the gearbox look like the splines been lathed off.

like holding clutch on battery drill until it gives up
