was surprised to see how few exhibitors there are , looks like hickleys and kap almost have it to themselves .
im popping in as need a few bits from hickleys and kap and the latest ford licence ft7 from truecode for ford as looks excellent , also interested in seeing kaps demo of programming mqb keys AKL
This MQB akl, is it out know?
End of year they reckon looking good though!
Doesnt sound that good. Change vehicle identity to program a key ? I can just hear the sound of jaws dropping as someone takes their car into VW dealership for an spare key and being told they need to replace every computer on the car because ID is wrong. Its bad enough when just the key has the wrong ID and locks the cluster.
Obiously using this function, without informing customers is ridiculous.......in emergency cases, where all keys are lost, a signed disclaimer from the customer should suffice?
from my understanding the only ID changed is in the cluster, so surely you wouldn’t need to replace every computer on the car, only the cluster and be matched using Odis?
I'd think it was the component security that changed, rather than a serial number. By ID I mean CS. Its in keys, cluster, ECU, at least to get it started. We'll have to see a real example, i.e. car, not just a cluster in a box to see full ramifications. And of course, it hasnt been released yet, so I'm just guessing.
If it just changes Component protection in modules it won't make any odds if it goes to dealer later, lost key with ODIS have option to do the very same thing. Also programming used modules and changing CS is no issue either. Done many times.
Of course be better if it doesn't go this route but will never need all modules replaced.
