Gabriel's tutorial is ok. I also repaired the pump .... but I used irfz48 are stronger. Some of the repaired work but some have fallen after a little time for various reasons. And frankly I do not like at all .... and not fix even if money is significant.

cod P1220 ideea e ca am pus alta pompa cu acelasi
cod si apare tot P1220,am verificat toate tensiunile in mufa

I guess these instructions and iformation will help all with Vp44 related issues.

I?ve been studying how to repair the pump edc. Here in Finland we have quite many Opel / Vauxhall enthusiasts struggling with VP44.

To attach the new transistor to the aluminium body I?ve used silver loaded epoxy from RS. It holds well and transfers heat away from the component.

Next week I?m going to test how IRLR2905PBF will work as a replacement part.

    Hope that it would work.

EDIT: The silver loaded epoxy also conducts electricity very well when it has dried, so you can use it for bonding the gate and source pins to the pcb.

When you change the transistor, will there be any issues regarding reprogramming of the pump ?

I?m not quite sure. The goal is that the new transistor would be as similar as possible so injection quantities would be correct.

If that works there is no need to reprogram the edc because usually it is going to the same car as it has been removed from.

And if any issue should come, I just have to study more about reprogramming the edc.

One thing one local diesel workshop has been asking me is, how to reset the memory fields in the edc. Since they can only try to calibrate the new edc four times and it gets locked and usually scrapped.

Don?t know yet... Hopefully there would be a way to do that.

Anyone with any luck with a Saab 2.2 TID diesel pump repair with this procedure? Don't feel like wasting thousands of euros if this would work.
